Leadlight windows originate over one thousand years ago and has been an art that has survived ever more increasingly till the present day. Traditionally leadlight is plain glass cut into geometric shapes, with no pictures. Stained glass is originally known as windows with pictures and color and many obscure pieces of glass. Towards the twentieth century these two separate definitions became blurred, and today they are both commonly known as leadlights.
At Smithfield Glass we can work with you to establish the leadlight you want, we then construct a design to scale on paper. Once the design is decided upon we then take you through the process of selecting the glass and when this is done, we get your approval to construct the leadlight for you. Manufacture times can vary from one week to five weeks pending on the complexity of the designs.
Repairs– As true leadlight artists we want to do our part to keep the art going and we are more than happy to do the best we can to restore any damaged leadlights that you may have |
